Job summary

Labcorp in Syracuse, NY seeks a Medical Lab Technician to join the Microbiology team. This on-site role performs specimen screening, routine and complex testing, and instrument troubleshooting to deliver accurate results for patient care.

The position requires an associates degree in a chemical or biological science, lab experience, and either a NYS MLT license or related certification with potential for ASCP/AMT credentials. Strong attention to detail and team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or a NYS MLT license.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
