Job summary

Experience is not required. Candidates must be able to follow lab procedures, operate lab equipment, and maintain accurate records while using hospital computer systems.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Must be able to follow all laboratory procedures.
• Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of laboratory techniques.
• Must be able to satisfactorily operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of laboratory equipment.
• Must be able to identify and address problems adversely affecting test results.
• Must be able to maintain accurate records, follow instructions, and communicate with hospital staff.
• Must be able to use laboratory and hospital computer systems appropriately within three months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Receive specimens, assess specimen integrity, verify labeling and documentation, and enter orders to ensure proper billing.
• Process specimens and perform tests; prepare reagents and report results in the assigned area.
• Perform quality control tasks and maintain related documentation; troubleshoot equipment and document corrective actions.
• Assist with instruction of new employees, residents, and students in proper laboratory procedures.
• Participate in Pathology Quality Assurance programs and seek process improvements.
• Stay current with developments in Pathology and adhere to applicable laws and accreditation requirements.
