Job summary

Greater Baltimore Medical Center is seeking a clinical laboratory professional to perform diagnostic testing on blood and other specimens under general supervision. You will calibrate and maintain instruments, prepare reagents, and ensure QC procedures are followed to deliver accurate results.

Responsibilities include supervising students/new staff, contributing to quality improvement, and participating in continuing education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Medical Technology or related field as specified.
• Experience level varies with education, new grads considered.
• Eligible for certification in Medical Technology preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing (waived, moderate, and highly complex) on blood and other specimens; ensure accurate processing and reporting.
• Calibrate, run performance checks, and maintain laboratory instruments; identify and correct minor malfunctions.
• Prepare reagents or media per procedures or literature; document all steps.
• Conduct and document quality control procedures; evaluate QC results and implement corrective actions when needed.
• Orient and supervise students and new staff; discuss scientific principles as needed.
• Monitor quality improvement indicators and participate in data gathering.
• Develop new programs and monitor effectiveness as part of a multi-functional team.
• Participate in continuing education and share knowledge through presentations.
