Job summary

Englewood Health's Laboratory - Microbiology department in Englewood, NJ seeks a part-time technician for day shifts (7:30am–3:30pm, with rotating weekends). Responsibilities include performing specimen analyses, operating complex microbiology equipment, and reporting results in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology and 0–2 years’ lab experience, with proficiency in microbiology and strong attention to quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in lab science or medical technology as required.
• 0-2 years of experience in the laboratory.
• Proficient in the Microbiology area of the laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Performs, records, and reports specimen analysis in one section of the laboratory in a timely manner, according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Operates complex laboratory equipment requiring special skills and performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration as needed.
• Assesses accuracy of tests by following SOPs and correlates clinical information for patient care impact.
• Maintains quality control procedures and reports proficiency testing results.
• Prepares stains, reagents, and mounts slides for microscopic analysis when needed.
• Communicates results and critical findings promptly to nurses and physicians with proper documentation.
• Explains results and test requirements to physicians, nurses, and staff as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality and professional conduct with all hospital staff and patients.
