Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, NJ is seeking a Lab Medical Technologist – Microbiology for full-time work in a dynamic, mission-driven hospital. The role involves performing moderate to high complexity testing with emphasis on specimen handling, results entry, and instrument operation within the microbiology laboratory.

The successful candidate will hold an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related life sciences, with ASCP certification or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or related life Sciences.
• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or related life Sciences.
• ASCP certification or eligible required upon hire.
• Experience preferred; recent graduates are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates specimens and test orders for acceptability and determines rejections according to established guidelines.
• Maintains and assures positive identity of all patient specimens throughout the analytical process.
• Follows laboratory procedures for specimen handling, test analyses and reporting; enters/verifies results.
• Performs tests under the indirect supervision of a section supervisor according to Lab policy.
• Demonstrates knowledge and judgment; may supervise personnel of less skill and experience.
• Maintains productivity and quality control; documents corrective actions when needed.
