Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join our team at UAB St. Vincent’s St. Clair in Pell City, AL. This per diem role involves performing routine and complex laboratory procedures and ensuring accurate results for patient care.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science or MLS, with related testing experience. ASCP/AMT certification preferred and flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology and 1+ year of clinical lab testing experience OR MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and computers.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental SOPs.
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation for proper functionality.
• Demonstrate ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
