Job summary

University of Washington’s DLMP in Renton, WA seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the Microbiology Team. The MLT performs routine testing, prepares specimens, and supports laboratory operations, including training others and developing new processes.

Under supervision, you will handle specimen processing, testing per SOPs, and ensure quality control. This temp-to-perm role offers day shifts with a 100% FTE schedule and standard benefits.

Qualifications

• Two-year program in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology required.
• Technician-level certification with ASCP or equivalent required.
• Equivalent education/experience substitutions permitted where legally allowed.

Responsibilities

• Process patient, proficiency, and environmental specimens for analysis.
• Perform patient and proficiency tests following SOPs and policies.
• Use LIS to accession, status, verify, and reject orders; input results.
• Report critical values, STAT results, and routine results per protocol.
• Conduct routine quality control and preventative maintenance.
• Assist in training employees and evaluating staff.
