Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or equivalent per CLIA.
• 4 years of progressively responsible microbiology experience.
• Certification by a recognized certifying agency; Microbiology specialist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews results for accuracy and validity.
• Performs bench work as required by staffing and workload.
• Develops and implements protocols for technical procedures with accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Facilitates QA/QC programs, test selection and utilization; maintains quality standards.
• Maintains a safe environment and documents risk management activities.
• Evaluates instrumentation and supplies; develops maintenance schedules and cost analyses.
• Manages personnel matters including hiring, training and performance management.
• Interfaces with LIS/MIS to improve departmental operations and financial reporting.
• Evaluates workflow and budgets; prepares cost and productivity analyses.
