Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology seeks a Laboratory Supervisor for the Moses Chemistry Lab. This role oversees daily 24/7 operations, ensures quality patient care, and coordinates with IT, Procurement, and vendors to meet laboratory goals.

The position emphasizes developing and validating chemistry methods, standardizing procedures across campuses, investigating adverse events, and leading QA/QC programs while managing staffing and inventory across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in science or related field is required.
• New York State clinical laboratory technologist license is required.
• Minimum 4 years of bench experience with a Bachelor's degree or 2 years with a Master's degree; 10+ years preferred.
• Competency with laboratory equipment and computer skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the Chemistry Lab at the Moses campus, across all shifts.
• Develop, implement, and validate Chemistry methodologies with lab directors.
• Standardize Chemistry procedures across campuses.
• Investigate adverse events, prepare corrective action plans, and train staff.
• Oversee QA/QC program including linearities, correlations, proficiency testing, and quality improvement.
• Manage human resources: staffing, hiring, training, disciplining, cross-training technologists.
• Oversee inventory management and reagent lot tracking across sites.
• Collaborate to develop cross-training programs for hematology and chemistry.
• Participate in department and medical center meetings and build customer relationships.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in science or related field
