Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Lab Assistant II for the M-Pathology Lab in Indianapolis. This PRN, day-shift role involves specimen collection, blood component preparation and pre-analytic processing, including waived and some moderate complexity testing.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or GED, plus phlebotomy training experience and solid computer/telephone skills. Prior lab experience and the ability to perform repetitive tasks are valued.

Qualifications

• Required HS diploma or GED.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program is preferred.
• Experience with laboratory testing processing is preferred.
• Ability to perform pre-analytic processing and waived/moderate complexity testing.
• Strong computer skills and telephone etiquette.
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks.
• May participate in committees/projects within the department.

Responsibilities

• Provide general laboratory services including specimen collection and preparation.
• Perform pre-analytic processing, waived testing and some moderate complexity testing.
• Handle patient/ specimen registration and delivery of specimens.
