Indiana University Health’s Laboratory Services is hiring a Lab Assistant I for the Methodist Medical Plaza South location in Indianapolis. The role includes specimen collection, order entry, and pre-analytic processing, with emphasis on accurate clerical duties and patient interactions.

The ideal candidate will have a HS diploma or GED, completed phlebotomy training, and excellent computer and interpersonal skills to support a busy 24/7 lab environment.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or GED equivalent.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience or coursework in biological/chemical sciences preferred.
• May require a valid Indiana operator's license and good driving history.
• Must have working knowledge of computers and basic clerical skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide general laboratory services including specimen collection and registration.
• Handle order entry and preparation of blood components.
• Perform pre-analytic processing of specimens and related clerical tasks.
• Assist with patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens.
