Job summary

SGS North America Inc. in Greenville, SC, is seeking a full-time microbiology lab technician to perform analyses on food pathogen detection methods using VIDAS, BAX, GDS, GeneUp, BioRad and related equipment.

You will maintain equipment, follow SOPs, and record quality activities, with a schedule Sunday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and potential weekend work. A Bachelor's in Microbiology or equivalent lab experience is required, with competitive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related field or commercial laboratory experience.
• Proficient Computer Skills, including MS Office 365.
• Experience with LIMS system or similar software.
• Familiar with operating laboratory equipment and basic wet chemistry procedures.

Responsibilities

• Handles samples and performs analyses according to Operating Procedures and test methodology.
• Maintains and verifies equipment.
• Reports deficiencies or malfunction to the supervisor.
• Maintains records of quality activities as documented in SOPs and test methods.
• Identifies and records nonconformities on Corrective Action Requests.

Job Description

This job operates in a lab environment with equipment such as analytical balances, food homogenization equipment, pipetting tools, incubators, water baths, plate readers, various commercial protein and DNA based technologies for food pathogen detection (VIDAS, BAX, GDS, GeneUp, BioRAd), spectrophotometer, VITEK Microbial Identification System, basic wet chemistry equipment for analysis of moisture, protein, fat, ash, salt.

• Handles samples and performs analyses according to Operating Procedures and test methodology
• Maintains and verifies equipment
• Reports deficiencies or malfunction to the supervisor
• Maintains records of all quality activities as documented in Operating Procedures and test methods
• Identifies and records nonconformities on Corrective Action Requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related field or commercial laboratory experience

• Computer Skills: Basic use of Microsoft Office 365 Suite required, experience with LIMS system
• Regularly operates laboratory equipment such as analytical balances, food homogenization equipment, pipetting tools, incubators, water baths, plate readers, various commercial protein and DNA based technologies for food pathogen detection (VIDAS, BAX, GDS, GeneUp, BioRAd), spectrophotometer, VITEK Microbial Identification System.

Shift Schedule Requirements

Candidates must be available to work the following schedule: Sunday to Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please note that schedules may be adjusted based on business needs and operational requirements. Due to the nature of our testing services, the laboratory operates weekends and holidays, and candidates must be willing to work as needed to support business demands.
