Job summary

SGS is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to operate in a food testing environment. You will conduct analyses with various equipment and methodologies, ensuring accurate results and compliance with procedures.

The role requires meticulous data recording, equipment maintenance, and timely reporting of any issues. Schedule: Sunday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; occasional weekend/holiday shifts may occur to support business needs.

Job Description

This job operates in a lab environment with equipment such as analytical balances, food homogenization equipment, pipetting tools, incubators, water baths, plate readers, various commercial protein and DNA based technologies for food pathogen detection (VIDAS, BAX, GDS, GeneUp, BioRAd), spectrophotometer, VITEK Microbial Identification System, basic wet chemistry equipment for analysis of moisture, protein, fat, ash, salt.

• Handles samples and performs analyses according to Operating Procedures and test methodology
• Maintains and verifies equipment
• Reports deficiencies or malfunction to the supervisor
• Maintains records of all quality activities as documented in Operating Procedures and test methods
• Identifies and records nonconformities on Corrective Action Requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related field or commercial laboratory experience
• Proficient Computer Skills
• Computer Skills: Basic use of Microsoft Office 365 Suite required, experience with LIMS system
• Regularly operates laboratory equipment such as analytical balances, food homogenization equipment, pipetting tools, incubators, water baths, plate readers, various commercial protein and DNA based technologies for food pathogen detection (VIDAS, BAX, GDS, GeneUp, BioRAd), spectrophotometer, VITEK Microbial Identification System.

Please note that schedules may be adjusted based on business needs and operational requirements. Due to the nature of our testing services, the laboratory operates weekends and holidays, and candidates must be willing to work as needed to support business demands.
