Job summary

IHG is seeking an experienced Banquet Server to join our banquet team in Chicago. You will oversee function setup, ensure service excellence, and maintain compliance with hotel standards. The role includes direct host interaction, daily log and payroll duties, and cleanup oversight.

Occasional shifts may arise for larger private dining events or slower banquet periods. We value confidentiality, professional communication, and a positive, guest-focused presence.

Relationships

• Reports directly to the Director of Banquets
• Interacts with individuals outside the hotel including, but not limited to, clients, suppliers, government officials, competitors and other members of the local community.
• Coordinates functions and activities with other department heads and Food and Beverage department heads, as appropriate.
• Interacts with all Banquet Staff and other departments as appropriate.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Oversees the set up of functions including; checking of the physical layout of the room, providing the Servers with the proper set-up information and posting of updated function sheets in the Banquet Kitchen.
2. Oversees the service of the functions assigned by the Director of Banquets to ensure the success of the function and staff adherence to all service rules.
3. Meets individual hosts and makes her/himself accessible to the host for any needs that may arise.
4. Closes all banquet checks following the function.
5. Oversees the clean up of all functions and ensures the proper removal and storage of the hotel linen and skirting.
6. Reports all incidents to the Director of Banquets.
7. Monitors side jobs of servers daily.
8. Performs side work as assigned.
9. Prepares daily log book, payroll hours and all other office paperwork.
10. Oversees proper clean up, handling and storage of all props, specialty china, and specialty linen.
11. Checks pantries and storage areas daily and maintains cleanliness.
12. Checks function rooms for maintenance issues and reports to Engineering Department.
13. Checks grooming of service staff.
14. Assists Director of Banquets in the annual evaluation of banquet servers.
15. Supervises bar staff when necessary.
16. Attends BEO meeting, daily F&B briefing, and 10 day meeting as required.
17. Assists in the training and documentation of training for all Banquet staff.

19. May assist with larger parties with private dining functions in Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse, as well as general restaurant management when banquet business is slower to provide additional shifts.

The salary range for this role is $38.95 to $40.28. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
