Job summary

Ascot Group in New York seeks an experienced Underwriter to join our Private and Non-Profit team, focusing on profitably growing Management Liability for private companies and nonprofits. The role emphasizes collaboration with the claims, actuarial, legal, and product development teams to deliver client-centric solutions.

You will analyze financials, negotiate terms, and manage broker relationships while maintaining high standards of underwriting discipline and profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 2 years of Management Liability underwriting or broker experience.
• Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Ability to analyze financial statements and make recommendations.
• High energy self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit.
• Detail oriented with strong time/desk management skills.
• Wholesale broker experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal Management Liability for private companies and non-profit organizations.
• Analyze financial statements, operations, governance structures, and loss experience.
• Evaluate D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Crime, and related exposures.
• Develop and maintain wholesale broker and client relationships; manage distribution.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, conditions, retentions, and coverage enhancements.
• Monitor portfolio profitability and underwriting performance.
• Collaborate with claims, actuarial, legal, and product development teams to ensure product effectiveness.
• Maintain underwriting documentation and comply with authority guidelines.
• Manage underwriting production with a focus on profitability across M-L insurance products.
• Use data to improve productivity and client service.
• Conduct marketplace research to develop underwriting tools.
