Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation in Savannah, GA, is seeking a Metrology Tech II to perform precise 3D measurement data collection for aircraft tooling and inspection studies. The role supports tooling setup and measurement across in-process and finished aircraft.

Ideal candidates will have 4 years in laser trackers/Radar or CMM, plus 2 years with Metrologic and CATIA V5, and possess strong reading of aircraft tooling designs. FAA-compliant experiences are valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 4 years Laser Tracker, Laser Radar or CMM experience.
• 2 years Metrologic and CATIA V5 experience.
• 2 years tool fabrication, jig building, or machine shop experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Perform periodic inspections to ensure FAA-compliant procedures and quality standards.
• Assist tooling mechanics to set or reset tooling during inspections or tooling installations.
• Conduct measurement studies on in-process or completed aircraft based on schedules or unplanned demand.
• Coordinate with operations to schedule inspections with minimal production impact.
• Utilize Metrologic model-based inspection processes within CATIA V5 and gather 3D inspection data with basic real-time analysis.
• Develop and document standards for handling and utilization of metrology equipment.
• Set up and use precision measuring tools; validate results for accuracy and repeatability.
• Ensure proper use and storage of tools and supplies; inform management of issues.

Unique Skills:

Skills and knowledge of 3D metrology equipment. Examples such as laser trackers, laser radar, laser scanning, blue light scanning, CMM, Articulating Arms, Photogrammetry, etc.

Skills and knowledge of 3D metrology software. Examples such as Metrolog X4V5, Teamcenter, Smarteam, Catia

GD&T (or FT&A) knowledge.

Data interpretation and analysis skills a plus.

Education and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. 4 years Laser Tracker, Laser Radar or CMM experience. 2 years Metrologic and CATIA V5 experience. 2 years tool fabrication, jig building, or machine shop experience preferred. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting aircraft & tooling designs. Must possess strong computer and shop math skills. Valid Driver’s License required.

Position Purpose

Performs technical work related to the gathering of highly accurate 3 dimensional data used to set up aircraft tooling and perform measurement studies on in-process or completed aircraft.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Perform periodic inspections to ensure compliance per FAA requirements and approved quality procedures. .
2. Provide assistance tooling mechanics to set or reset tooling details during periodic inspections or tooling installations.
3. Conduct measurement studies on in-process or completed aircraft based on planned schedules or un-planned demand. .
4. Coordinate with operations to schedule inspections that will have minimal impact on aircraft production.
5. Utilize Metrologic model based inspection processes within CATIA V5, gather 3D inspection data and provide basic real time analysis.
6. Assist in the development and documentation of standards for the handling and utilization of metrology equipment. .
7. Set up and utilize precision measuring tools; validates measurement results for accuracy and repeatability.
8. Ensure proper use and storage of tools, equipment and supplies. Advise management of any associated problems or other requirements. .

Additional Functions:

1. Actively works to improve daily processes, and ensures all work meets customer requirements. .
