Gulfstream Aerospace is seeking a Metrology Tech II in Savannah to perform precise 3D data collection for aircraft tooling and measurement studies. You will engage in model-based inspection within CATIA V5, gather high-accuracy data, and support tooling setups and inspections on in-process or finished aircraft.

The role requires reading aircraft tooling designs, strong computer and shop math skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 4 years Laser Tracker, Laser Radar or CMM experience.
• 2 years Metrologic and CATIA V5 experience.
• 2 years tool fabrication, jig building, or machine shop experience preferred.
• Must be proficient in reading and interpreting aircraft & tooling designs.
• Must possess strong computer and shop math skills.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsabilités

• Perform periodic inspections to ensure FAA compliance and quality procedures.
• Assist tooling mechanics to set or reset tooling details during inspections or installations.
• Conduct measurement studies on in-process or completed aircraft per schedules or demand.
• Coordinate with operations to schedule inspections with minimal aircraft production impact.
• Use Metrologic model-based inspection in CATIA V5, gather 3D data and provide basic real-time analysis.
• Help develop and document standards for handling and utilization of metrology equipment.
• Set up and use precision measuring tools; verify accuracy and repeatability of results.
• Advise management of tooling issues and required resources.

Unique Skills:

Skills and knowledge of 3D metrology equipment. Examples such as laser trackers, laser radar, laser scanning, blue light scanning, CMM, Articulating Arms, Photogrammetry, etc.

Skills and knowledge of 3D metrology software. Examples such as Metrolog X4V5, Teamcenter, Smarteam, Catia

GD&T (or FT&A) knowledge.

Data interpretation and analysis skills a plus.

Position Purpose

Performs technical work related to the gathering of highly accurate 3 dimensional data used to set up aircraft tooling and perform measurement studies on in-process or completed aircraft.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

1. Perform periodic inspections to ensure compliance per FAA requirements and approved quality procedures. .
2. Provide assistance tooling mechanics to set or reset tooling details during periodic inspections or tooling installations.
3. Conduct measurement studies on in-process or completed aircraft based on planned schedules or un-planned demand. .
4. Coordinate with operations to schedule inspections that will have minimal impact on aircraft production.
5. Utilize Metrologic model based inspection processes within CATIA V5, gather 3D inspection data and provide basic real time analysis.
6. Assist in the development and documentation of standards for the handling and utilization of metrology equipment. .
7. Set up and utilize precision measuring tools; validates measurement results for accuracy and repeatability.
8. Ensure proper use and storage of tools, equipment and supplies. Advise management of any associated problems or other requirements. .

Additional Functions:

1. Actively works to improve daily processes, and ensures all work meets customer requirements. .
