Job summary

Royal Technologies in Hudsonville, MI, seeks a Metrology Lab Technician to support engineering layout and quality activities at our Quincy facility. You will perform layout checks with calipers, height gages, and gage pins, manage calibrations, and scan parts as requested by engineering or quality teams.

The role requires multitasking and strong organization in a fast-paced lab. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in metrology, GD&T training, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of metrology or related experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Team player in a fast-paced environment.
• GD&T training and print reading.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on use of calipers, height gages, micrometers, and other measurement tools.
• Gage R&R, capability studies, and 1st article inspection.
• Scan parts with Faro Arm/Polyworks and create GOIs.
• Create Gage Operating Instructions and calibrate with GageTrak.
• Coordinate with engineering and quality teams; work with outside vendors.

What You’ll Do

Your future starts here! The Metrology Lab Technician will be responsible for performing layout hand checks using calipers, height gages, gage pins, dedicated gages, etc. for all engineering layout activity. This role will also create GOI's, manage and perform gage calibrations, as well as scan parts when requested by the engineering or quality team. The fast-paced environment in the lab requires significant multitasking and strong organizational skills.Based out of our Quincy facility in Hudsonville, this position reports directly to the Metrology Lab Manager.

Responsibilities:

Experience using the following measurement tools:

• Calipers
• Gage pins
• Height gages
• Micrometers
• SPC gages
• Scanning using Polyworks software

Experience performing the following tasks:

• Gage R&R's
• Capability studies
• 1st article inspection
• Performing scans using Faro Arm/Polyworks
• Creating Gage Operating Instructions

Experience using Microsoft Excel

Own gage calibrations for all plants using GageTrak software

Work with outside vendors for calibrations

Qualifications:

• At least 2+ years of experience
• High school Diploma/GED
• Ability to work within a team
• Comfortable in a fast pace environment
• GD&T training (print reading)
