Job summary

Hyliion seeks a Metrology Engineer to own end-to-end dimensional measurement across internal operations and suppliers. You will manage the metrology lab, calibration, gage control, and measurement standards, interfacing with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline.
Five or more years of hands-on dimensional metrology experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
Experience with external suppliers, including on-site assessment and corrective action.
AS9100, ISO 9001, or NADCAP‑governed quality systems preferred.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (25–50%).
Experience measuring additively manufactured components (CT or internal geometry verification).
Model-Based Definition and PMI implementation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as Hyliion's technical lead for dimensional verification at key suppliers.
Assess supplier measurement capability: equipment, environment, programs, fixtures, and calibration integrity.
Design, specify, and validate inspection fixtures and datum schemes.
Author and approve supplier CMM programs and ballooning.
Lead First Article Inspection per AS9102 or equivalent.
Conduct gage correlation and round-robin studies between measurement systems.
Qualify suppliers for self-certification and maintain surveillance.
Support PPAP-style qualification packages with measurement evidence.
