Job summary

Core & Main in Iowa seeks a Meter Specialist to support utilities in metering systems, AMI/AMR, and data-driven solutions. You will design and implement solutions with customers, including meters, endpoints, and software platforms that enable real-time data and efficiency.

This hands-on role blends office support with fieldwork, including training, troubleshooting, and installation assistance to improve operational visibility and infrastructure performance.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of experience in metering, utilities, technical sales, or related infrastructure technology.
• Working knowledge of water, wastewater, gas, or electric utility systems preferred.
• Experience with AMI, AMR, or smart metering technologies is a strong plus.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into practical, customer-focused solutions.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both field-level users and executive stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical expert for metering solutions, supporting customers and internal teams.
• Partner with utilities and contractors to deliver end-to-end metering solutions.
• Troubleshoot system issues, optimize performance, and implement new technologies in the field.
• Lead product demonstrations, training sessions, and presentations for customers.
• Collaborate with sales to drive a consultative, value-based approach.
• Develop new business opportunities and expand existing accounts.
• Influence project specs and position Core & Main as a partner in modernization.
• Serve as liaison between customers and internal teams (engineering, vendors, PM).
• Assist with system installations, configurations, and commissioning.
