Job summary

Duke Energy in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Meter Tester’s Assistant to support the Electric Meter Division. You will read meters, perform service reconnections, and maintain meter equipment while upholding safety and customer-relations standards.

Travel not required initially; work is conducted at customer premises and company locations with supervision. Eligibility to work in the U.S. and a valid driver's license are required. Joint work with the Electric Distribution Engineering Department.

Qualifications

• Must be able to learn and apply the Company's safety rules and regulations.
• Must possess tact and suitable personality for contact with customers.
• Must be able to drive, have a valid driver's license, and pass the driver's examination.
• Must be capable of directing the work of employees in this job classifications.
• Must pass an examination for entrance into Meter Tester’s Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Handle customer credit problems and inquiries in a courteous, timely manner.
• Enter data via computer terminals and maintain accurate records.
• Change and reconnect electric meters, read gas and electric meters, and verify service availability.
• Operate meters, inspect for proper seals, and perform maintenance on meter equipment.
• Represent the Company professionally at customers' premises and ensure safety standards.
• Assist in training lower classifications and maintain accurate work records.
