Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is seeking a Meter Tester’s Assistant to support the Electric Distribution Engineering Department. The role involves handling meter testing, installation, and service changes at customer sites, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and customer service.

Responsibilities include reading meters, performing reconnections, installing security devices, and maintaining records. Candidates must meet safety standards, lift heavy loads, and hold a valid driver’s license for travel

Qualifications

• Must be able to learn and apply the Company's safety rules and regulations.
• Must possess tact and suitable personality for contact with customers.
• Must be capable of making legible and accurate reports and records.
• Must be able to drive, have a valid driver's license, and pass the Company's driver examination.
• Must be capable of directing the work of employees in this job classifications.
• Must be capable of lifting, carrying, erecting and working from a 24-foot extension ladder.
• Must be capable of lifting and carrying a minimum of 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine duties in meter testing, installation, and service changes.
• Read and interpret meter data and perform related maintenance tasks.
• Reconnecting/disconnecting electric service and meter changes with supervision.
• Install meter security devices and verify proper seals.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
• Assist in laboratory tests and maintenance of equipment.
• Drives and delivers meters and metering equipment to locations as needed.
• Support in the shop with meter testing and assembly tasks.
