Job summary

Knoxville Utilities Board is seeking a Service Technician to perform meter reading, installation, maintenance, testing, programming, removal, and starts/stops of gas, electric, and water meters within the KUB service area. You will also enter customer premises to relight gas equipment and support AMI system setup and troubleshooting.

Under general supervision and with safety as a priority, you will use handheld devices to complete orders, monitor system alerts, document work, and provide

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass Gas Operator Qualifications within first year.
• Mechanical/electrical problem-solving aptitude with ability to read schematics and diagrams.
• Able to work independently and in a team, stay calm under emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Read, install, maintain, test, program, remove, and replace meters (gas, electric, water).
• Relight gas equipment and support AMI system setup and troubleshooting.
• Respond to system notifications, investigate tamper alerts, and document work.
• Complete orders electronically via handheld device and monitor field systems.
• Provide safe operation of vehicles and equipment; work in varied weather.
