Job summary

Cape Fear Public Utility Authority is seeking a meter technician to assist with installation, testing, and repair of water meters and services. The role includes AMR/AMI device setup, meter repairs, and documenting work orders in the system.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, plus at least six months of tools-based work experience and a North Carolina driver's license. On-site work with rotating 24/7 emergency duties is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Six months of general work experience using hand/power tools.
• Valid North Carolina driver's license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, testing, repairs and replacements of water meters and services.
• Verify line sizes and line splits; install and program AMR/AMI devices.
• Make repairs to service lines, meters and related equipment; troubleshoot meters.
• Work independently and support other technicians; document work orders accurately.
• Operate assigned vehicle safely and maintain a safe work zone per SOP.
• Participate in rotating 24/7 emergency on-call shifts; respond to water system emergencies.
