Job summary

AEP Texas is seeking an Electrician B to install and maintain self-contained electric meters up to 240 volts in shop and customer sites. You will read meters, install, test, program, and repair meters, and handle related equipment.

An associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or equivalent and four years of experience are required, plus a valid driver license. Overtime and weekend work are expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or an equivalent combination with four years of relevant work experience.
• Hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and working with electrical equipment.
• Substation, metering, instrumentation, controls, power systems, or electrical maintenance background.

Responsibilities

• Read meters for field orders and cycle billing.
• Install, remove, change disconnect, and reconnect meters.
• Test single phase, network, and polyphase meters for operation and accuracy.
• Program meters.
• Handle credit/collections orders including disconnect/reconnect for non-payment.
• Investigate irregular usage and energy diversion.
• Repair meters, sockets, and enclosures.
• Order, receive, ship, store, and inventory meters and equipment.
• Investigate power quality issues and produce reports.
• Work from ladders and elevated platforms.
