Job summary

TEGNA's WBNS-TV Columbus in CBS seeks a dynamic Meteorologist to deliver accurate weather forecasts on-air and online, in a conversational style. You’ll gather, analyze data and alert viewers about upcoming weather, while contributing to graphics, field reporting and severe weather coverage for multi-platform audiences.

Requirements include a BA/BS in Meteorology or related field and 3–5 years of on-air meteorology experience; proficiency with posting content to websites and social platforms and

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Meteorology, Geoscience or Atmospheric Science.
• 3–5 years on-air meteorology experience.
• Proficiency posting content to websites and social media; computer literacy including weather and newsroom systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and compelling weather forecasts in a multi-platform environment.
• Prepare and deliver severe weather updates, interrupting regular programming as necessary.
• Produce clean, creative and informative graphics to tell the weather story.
• Fill in on other shifts when necessary.
• Write and report from the field or inside the newsroom.
• Update website and interact with viewers on social media platforms daily.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Make public appearances.
