Job summary

WCNC-TV Charlotte in NBC, part of TEGNA Inc., seeks a dynamic Meteorologist to join our team. You will prepare and deliver accurate weather reports on-air and online, in a conversational style.

Your role includes gathering and analyzing information, alerting audiences about local weather, and contributing graphics and field reporting. You will collaborate with the WX department, brainstorm future shows, and cover significant weather events.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Meteorology, Geoscience or Atmospheric Science.
• 3-5 years of on-air meteorology experience required.
• Proficient at posting content to websites and social media; computer literacy including weather and newsroom systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and compelling weather forecasts across multi-platform environments.
• Deliver severe weather updates, interrupting regular programming as needed.
• Produce clean graphics to illustrate the weather story.
• Fill in on other shifts when necessary.
• Write and report from field or newsroom.
• Update website and engage viewers on social media daily.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Make public appearances.
