Job summary

McKinsey & Company in Charlotte seeks a Metals & Mining consultant to apply industry knowledge and analytics to help clients accelerate strategy, CAPEX decisions, and due diligence. You will work on engagements staffed with client teams, leading analyses, presenting findings, and implementing solutions with senior leadership.

You will partner with teams across strategy and operations, deploying AI and digital analytics to improve plant processes and optimize performance.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree with excellent academic record in metallurgical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field
4+ years in metals market strategy, commercial due diligence, CAPEX evaluation or consulting
Experience with time series data, company financial statements, and/or operating benchmarks
Strong organizational and task ownership skills
Data-driven decision making based on evidence
Ability to produce client-ready outputs (PowerPoint, Excel, reports)
Excellent time management in a largely autonomous environment
Willingness to travel and attend meetings outside normal hours
Ability to work in varying environments (factories, mines)

Responsibilities

Identify issues, form hypotheses, design and conduct analyses, and synthesize conclusions into recommendations
Lead or contribute to knowledge development to expand metals capabilities
Develop and maintain a strong client network and be in the flow of new external thinking
Collaborate on engagements spanning strategy, operations, due diligence; deploy AI and digital analytics to improve processes
