Job summary

Radius Recycling in Worcester, MA seeks a Metals Inspector to ensure safety and compliance in scrap metal handling. You will inspect shipments by truck, rail, or ship, record weight, grade and quantity, and direct unloading to maintain a safe, orderly yard.

You will work under hazardous outdoor conditions, wear PPE, collaborate with supervisors and customers, report equipment issues, and support operations across the yard; all duties occur within a safety‑driven, equal‑opportunity environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent experience in a similar role preferred.
• Ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with customers and other employees required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect shipments of scrap metal to ensure material meets specifications and is free of environmental hazards.
• Record inspection data such as weight, grade, content, and quantity.
• Notify supervisors of problems and help implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with commercial department regarding quality and customer deliveries.
• Direct unloading of vehicles to maintain safe yard traffic flow.
• Provide backup in the yard as needed.
• Report equipment deficiencies to the supervisor.
