Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is offering a Quality Engineering Intern position in Cleveland, OH. The role supports the Metallurgical Department with safety, lab work, and data analysis while gaining exposure to comprehensive steelmaking operations.

Current enrollment in a relevant BS program and the expectation to complete sophomore year by 2027 are required. The internship provides hands-on experience, potential for future full-time employment, and a path through university partnerships.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related technical degree.
• Completion of at least sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly safety inspections and safety observations for the Metallurgical Department.
• Work safely and follow plant safety policies.
• Manage workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.
• Manage test equipment calibrations.
• Create operating efficiencies to maintain production, testing, and shipping with a leaner workforce.
• Maintain Steelmaking spectrometer lab, calibration, and on-call support.
• Data-mining investigations on metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, scrap charges, etc.
• Metallurgical grade maintenance and development.
• Manage 3rd party testing inspections.
• Track Steelmaking scrap, referrals, and diversions.
• Perform Metallurgical investigations.
