Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs in Mansfield, OH is hiring a Quality Engineer to support planning and execution of metallurgical process projects, conduct metallographic testing, and disposition material to ensure customer requirements are met.

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, you will help drive quality objectives, manage corrective actions, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy / Material Science Engineering is required.
• Proficient computer skills are required.
• Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Ability to work in a hot, dusty industrial environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical expertise to resolve departmental process issues, ensuring product quality and cost efficiency.
• Conducts research to identify alternative solutions that meet quality and cost requirements, ensuring customer satisfaction through adherence to product specifications.
• Investigates field projects to develop cost-effective solutions for technical process problems. Develops, analyzes, prepares, and executes technical process projects.
• Assists in establishing departmental quality objectives, directing CAR, PMCAR, Continuous Improvement, preventive actions, and PCE/PCR systems.
• Ensures quality assurance through inspection and disposition of products before shipment.
• Performs metallographic testing and analysis of steel products.
• Fosters effective communication with Operations and Maintenance regarding process applications related to safety, quality, and cost.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
