Qualifications

  • At least three years of professional experience in manufacturing, materials, or process engineering.
  • Experience in iron, steel, casting, foundry, or metallurgical operations preferred; other materials backgrounds considered.

Job description

Seeking a Metallurgy Engineer to join a manufacturing organization in the Peoria, Illinois area. This role will support the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of metallurgical processes within a metals production environment, with a strong focus on iron castings and foundry operations. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering discipline and have at least three years of professional experience in manufacturing, materials, or process engineering. Candidates with experience in iron, steel, casting, foundry, or metallurgical operations are highly preferred, though those with polymer, plastics, or broader materials engineering backgrounds will also be considered.

Key responsibilities include providing ownership and continuous improvement of metallurgical processes, conducting data extraction and analysis, performing failure investigations and root cause problem solving, and utilizing simulation tools to support manufacturing improvements. The engineer will test products, analyze laboratory and production data, and implement process modifications to ensure compliance with quality and performance requirements. This individual will also build, test, and refine metallurgical processes in both foundry and laboratory environments while partnering closely with production, quality, and operations teams to improve product performance, reduce defects, and drive overall process efficiency.
