Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan in the Chino copper complex, southwestern New Mexico, seeks an entry-level Metallurgical technician to join our team. Under close supervision, you will provide technical support and analysis for metallurgical testing and processing, and assist in studies and reporting.

You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry or related engineering, uphold safety practices, and communicate effectively. The role offers a competitive pay range and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry or related engineering.
• Knowledge of metallurgical testing and processing analyses.
• Ability to conduct research and analyze information to draw valid conclusions.
• Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, assist in Metallurgical testing and analysis at the site.
• Assist in Metallurgical studies and analyses.
• Prepare standard reports on metallurgical or process issues.
• Assist in evaluating new testing equipment or protocols.
• Assist in vendor contracts for services and equipment.
• Maintain understanding of applicable regulations.
• Perform other duties as required.
