Job summary

Venteon seeks an experienced Metallurgist for a Metro Detroit manufacturing facility. Candidate should bring strong metallurgy background, lab testing experience, and a track record in steel processing, annealing, and heat treatment.

The role requires ensuring compliance with IATF16949, AIAG, and related automotive standards, and supporting ISO9001 audits. The successful candidate will lead CAPA initiatives, develop SOPs, and coordinate external lab testing while maintaining calibration records

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy or related field or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years experience in steel processing, annealing and heat treatment.
• Familiarity with automotive supplier standards (IATF16949, AIAG, VDA).
• Knowledge of ISO9001 compliance and internal audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of CAPA (Root Cause, Corrective, and Preventative Actions).
• Develop, update, and implement Standard Operating Procedures.
• Manage external laboratory testing processes.
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment and measurement tools.
• Plan and coordinate testing to ensure compliance with customer and industry standards.
• Evaluate proposed design, process and material changes against specifications.

Requirements of the Staff Metallurgist

• Associate's degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or a related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in steel processing, annealing, and heat treatment processes.
• Familiarity with automotive OEM supplier standards (IATF16949, AIAG, VDA, etc.).
• Versed with ISO9001 compliance / internal audits

Responsibilities of the Staff Metallurgist

• Lead the implementation of Root Cause, Corrective, and Preventative Actions (CAPA)
• Develop, update, and implement Standard Operating Procedures
• Manage external laboratory testing processes.
• Calibrate and maintain equipment (both lab and micrometers), ensuring all calibration records are up to date
• Plan and coordinate testing to ensure products and processes adhere to customer and industry standards
• Evaluate proposed changes in design, process and materials to current specifications
