Job summary

GT TECHNOLOGIES INC. is seeking an experienced Metallurgical Engineer to manage the corporate metallurgy laboratory in Westland, Michigan.

The role involves directing lab work orders, materials R&D, and heat/surface treatment decisions aligned with product needs. The candidate should have a BS in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering and at least five years in ferrous metallurgy, with strong skills in material characterization and CQI-9/IATF 16949 familiarity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in ferrous metallurgy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation and upkeep of the metallurgical laboratory in Westland, MI.
• Execute metallurgy lab work orders, materials R&D and special projects using lab resources and technicians.
• Collaborate with Product and Manufacturing Engineers to specify materials and heat/surface treatments.
• Perform evaluations, tests, experiments and analyses on materials used in valves and precision components.
• Coordinate outsourced material evaluations and analyses.
• Create and maintain material and heat treatment specifications and standards.
• Support development of heat treatment processes at internal facilities and monitor outsourced heat treatment quality.
• Write internal/external reports and stay current on material knowledge for products.
