Job summary

Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. in Austin, Texas, is seeking a Materials/Metallurgical Engineer to provide metallurgical and failure analysis services from its Material Science Center.

A BS in metallurgy or materials engineering is required; MS is a plus. 5+ years in material science is desired, with experience in destructive testing, metallography, and failure analysis. PE license or path toward licensure encouraged; some field support on power generation projects may be needed.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in metallurgy or materials engineering required.
  • MS in materials or metallurgy would be a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in material science preferred.
  • PE license or path toward licensure encouraged.
  • Laboratory-based role with occasional field support on projects.

Responsibilities

  • Review client needs related to failed or damaged metal components.
  • Develop proposals for condition assessment or failure analysis services.
  • Manage metallurgical laboratory projects, interpret results, and prepare reports.
  • Provide materials support to SI’s engineering staff on nuclear, fossil, and renewable energy projects.
  • Manage root cause analysis investigations.
  • Provide asset management and condition assessment services.
