Job summary

Acuren is currently recruiting for a Metallographer II to support our New Castle, DE operations in a high-volume lab setting, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day. The Metallographer II independently performs metallographic examinations and analytical tasks to evaluate material characteristics and quality.

Responsibilities include preparation, microstructure analysis using optical and digital microscopy, hardness testing, and image documentation.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or two years of post-high school studies in relevant technical field.
• Minimum 3 years in materials laboratory setting or materials-related field.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed technical specifications and drawings.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent English communication skills including correct basic grammar, spelling, punctuation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Keyboarding proficiency (40 wpm preferred).
• Ability to safely carry out oral and written work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Performs metallographic examinations and analytical tasks to evaluate material characteristics and quality.
• Conducts advanced specimen preparation and microstructure analysis using optical and digital microscopy.
• Performs hardness testing and documents images for reports.
• Interprets results, prepares technical reports, and may assist in failure analysis and material verification projects.
• Supports equipment calibration, process improvement, and mentoring of entry-level staff.
