Job summary

Acuren is seeking a Metallographer II to support a high-volume laboratory in New Castle, DE. The role focuses on advanced specimen preparation, microstructure analysis, hardness testing, and documentation of results.

You will mentor entry-level staff and contribute to calibration, process improvement, and analytical projects. Requires an associate degree or equivalent, 3+ years lab experience, and strong communication and technical drawing interpretation skills.

Qualifications

Associates degree or 2 years post-high school in a relevant technical field.
Minimum 3 years in a materials laboratory setting or materials-related field (aerospace experience preferred).
Able to read and interpret detailed technical specifications and drawings.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; keyboarding 40 wpm preferred.

Responsibilities

Conducts microscopic, macroscopic, and other tests on metals and alloys for metallurgical control or development.
Examines samples to determine metal characteristics (crystal structure, porosity, homogeneity).
Interprets findings and prepares charts, graphs, and written reports with conclusions and recommendations.
Coordinates and performs specialized tests (e.g., end-quench hardenability, bend and tensile, grain size).
