Job summary

Acuren Inspection is seeking a Metallographer II to support our Richburg, SC lab in a high-volume setting. The role involves microscopic and macroscopic testing of metals, sample prep, and detailed reporting of findings.

Minimum 3 years in a materials lab and an associates degree or equivalent; aerospace experience preferred. Strong reading of specs, Excel/Word proficiency, and clear English communication are essential.

Qualifications

Associates degree or two years of post-high school studies in a relevant technical field.
Minimum 3 years in materials laboratory setting or materials-related field; aerospace experience preferred.
Ability to read and interpret detailed technical specifications and drawings.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent English communication skills including correct grammar, spelling, punctuation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
Keyboarding proficiency (40 wpm preferred).
Ability to safely carry out oral and written work instructions.

Responsibilities

Conducts microscopic, macroscopic, and other tests on metal samples for metallurgical control.
Studies photomicrographs and performs microscopic examinations to determine metal characteristics.
Interprets findings and prepares charts, drawings, and reports.
Coordinates and performs end-quench hardenability, bend and tensile, and grain size tests.
