Job summary

SURGE Staffing seeks a skilled Metal Stamping Die Setter to set up and operate manual and automatic stamping presses. You will perform die changes, prep materials, and troubleshoot die and press issues while inspecting parts for quality and conformance to specifications.

Responsibilities include die changes, staging dies, machine adjustments, and maintaining documentation. Safety, accuracy, and efficiency are essential in this hands-on manufacturing role.

Qualifications

• Experience with metal stamping dies, press setup, die changeovers, and manufacturing equipment.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and production efficiency.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, production requirements, and quality specifications.
• Forklift operating experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, install, and secure dies in manual and automatic metal stamping presses.
• Coordinate and pre-stage dies, tools, materials, and equipment for die changes and press setups.
• Perform die changeovers efficiently and ensure all components are properly installed for production.
• Load metal coils and feed material into dies as required.
• Adjust press speeds, feed rates, and machine settings based on operation and material.
• Troubleshoot die, tooling, and press-related issues in coordination with maintenance.
• Recommend process, tooling, and equipment adjustments to improve quality.
• Inspect stamped parts for defects and verify dimensional accuracy.
• Perform first-piece inspections after press setups as directed by QA.
• Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
• Monitor operation and report malfunctions or quality concerns promptly.
• Operate a forklift to move dies and equipment as needed.
• Maintain organized, clean work area and proper tool/die maintenance.
• Follow PPE guidelines and safety procedures.
