Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Correction seeks a Correctional Industries Supervisor 1 (General Industries) for the MacDougall-Walker facility in Suffield, CT. You will supervise a metal shop, instruct incarcerated individuals, and oversee production in a hazardous-duty environment.

The role blends hands-on fabrication with supervision, planning, cost reporting, and enforcing safety and security within the work area. Experience in welding, machining, and CAD tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in a manufacturing environment with some responsibility for production output of others.
• Experience welding, sheet-metal fabrication, machining and supervisory experience.
• Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks and CNC software.
• Experience training, instructing and supervising inmates.
• Experience with production planning, quality control and safety inspections.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and instructs inmates in metal fabrication and safety.
• Plans daily production activities and assigns tasks.
• Maintains cost, production inventory and time records.
• Maintains discipline and enforces security measures within the area.
• Performs related duties as required and conducts performance reviews.
