The Department of Correction (DOC) in Connecticut seeks a Correctional Industries Supervisor 2 (General Industries) to manage the Cheshire Correctional Institution’s Industry Shops, including License Plate, Plastic Bag, and Sign Shops. The schedule for this position is Monday – Friday from 7 am to 2:15 pm.
The Cheshire Correctional Institution recognizes its stewardship responsibilities to the citizens of Connecticut, as well as to the residents of Cheshire. The facility is a Level 4 security institution that houses 1,225 inmates. The Enterprise Program has a total of approximately 60 inmate workers classified to the Industries Shops in Cheshire CI.
In order to be considered for this job opening you must be a current State of CT employee of the agency listed above�for at least six (6) months of full‑time service or full‑time equivalent service, absent any applicable collective bargaining language, and meet the Minimum Qualifications as listed on the job opening.� You must specify your qualifications on your application.�
In a Department of Correction facility or district this class is accountable for supervising staff and inmates engaged in activities of a major manufacturing production, processing or service operation in the occupational area indicated by the parenthetical title of the class.
Six (6) years of experience in a manufacturing environment involved in the areas of production, production planning and/or quality control which must have included responsibility for the production output of other workers.
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity in a manufacturing environment. NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Correctional Industries Supervisor 1.

Incumbents in this class may be exposed to danger of injury or assault by inmates who have access to tools of the trade as weapons and may be exposed to the following discomforts depending upon their industry: loud machine noises, chemical fumes, working in tiring positions, working with dangerous (high speed and/or high temperature, etc.) machinery.
