Job summary

Reworld is seeking a Metal Recovery Technician to safely operate and maintain equipment for residue, ferrous, and non-ferrous systems at our Newark, NJ facility. Daily tasks include monitoring conveyors, magnets and PLC control centers, with a focus on safe operation and preventative maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of heavy industrial machinery experience, a valid license, and be able to lift 50 pounds. Welding skills are a plus and willingness to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• At least one year of experience operating heavy industrial machinery or demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Outdoor/indoor work in all weather; long periods of standing and physical exertion.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and repair equipment for residue, ferrous and non-ferrous systems, including ash/ferrous load-out via overhead crane.
• Monitor earth magnet conveyors, belt conveyors, motors, gearboxes, vibrating pans, ECS magnets and related equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance (gearbox/motor changes, belt changes, bearing/roller replacements, guarding and structural repairs).
• Possess basic welding skills (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW) as a plus.
• Operate front-end loaders, skid steers, man-lifts, Lull’s and forklifts; shifts may include nights/weekends.

Apply today!About the roleThe duties of the Metal Recovery Technician include:The safe and efficient operation and mechanical repair of all equipment associated with the Residue, ferrous, and Non-ferrous systems including ash/ferrous load-out via overhead crane.The chosen candidate will also perform lockout and tagout of the ferrous and non-ferrous system as well as becoming proficient at the ferrous and ash crane load out process.Responsibilities consist of obtaining daily logs, monitoring the operation and maintenance of earth magnet conveyors, belt conveyors, motors and gearboxes, vibrating pans, grizzlies, screw conveyors, ECS magnets, drag conveyors, pug mills, ash sampling process and PLC control center.In addition the mechanical ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance including gearbox and motor change outs, ECS and conveyor belt change out, roller & bearing replacement, screen and spring replacements, belt tracking, scraper adjustments or replacement, metal & rubber skirting replacement, guarding repairs & structural repairs.The ability to operate Front-end Loaders, Skid Steers, Man-lifts, Lull’s and Forklifts are a plus.Position Requirements:High School Diploma/GED is required. Candidate must have at least one year of previous experience in the operation of heavy industrial machinery or demonstrated mechanical aptitude.Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Duties require frequent and extended periods of outside and inside work, subject to all weather conditions and extremes; continuous walking, standing, climbing and frequent periods requiring sustained uncomfortable physical positions; regular and sustained periods of strenuous physical exertion, requiring the ability to lift, carry and position heavy objects utilizing proper body mechanics and techniques; operation of tools and equipment which cause loud noise and vibrations.Military or formal technical/apprentice training is desirable. Previous power plant / industrial experience is a plus. Welding in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW is a plusThe ability to work various work shifts, nights and on weekends when required.
