Job Title: Metal Fabricator

Job Description

This role involves performing metal fabrication tasks in a steel fabrication environment, using a variety of machines and tools to produce high-quality parts and assemblies. You will read measurements, operate fabrication equipment, and assist with assembly and finishing work while continuously developing your skills through hands‑on training.

Responsibilities

• Perform metal fabrication tasks using hand tools and fabrication equipment to produce parts and assemblies according to specifications.
• Accurately read and use a tape measure to take and verify measurements for cutting, forming, and assembling materials.
• Operate at least one metal fabrication machine such as a press brake, shear, roll former, or drill press with a focus on safety and quality.
• Assist with fitting and assembly of fabricated components to ensure proper alignment and fit‑up.
• Perform deburring and finishing operations to remove sharp edges and improve the quality of fabricated parts.
• Support MIG welding activities as needed, following instructions and maintaining clean weld areas.
• Reference blueprints or drawings, when available, to understand dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and best practices in a steel fabrication environment.
• Collaborate with team members and follow guidance from more experienced fabricators to learn additional aspects of the fabrication process.
• Participate in training on different fabrication techniques and equipment to expand skills and versatility.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience in metal fabrication or equivalent hands‑on training.
• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure in a production environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools and machinery safely and effectively.
• At least 1 year of experience operating at least one fabrication machine such as a press brake, shear, roll former, or drill press.
• Basic experience or familiarity with fabrication tasks such as fitting, deburring, and assembly.
• Ability to follow instructions, work from basic documentation, and adhere to safety procedures in a steel fabrication setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Completion of a relevant technical program or school training plus at least 6 months of hands‑on experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints is a strong plus.
• Experience or familiarity with MIG welding is beneficial.
• Knowledge of additional fabrication equipment beyond the core machines is a plus.
• Willingness to learn new fabrication techniques and cross‑train on different machines.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
