Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a Manufacturing Systems Engineer / Business Systems Analyst to support development, deployment, and ongoing support of manufacturing applications and MES platforms in a production environment.

The role focuses on production support, enhancements, and new project delivery across MES, inventory tracking, process control, and data analytics. Strong collaboration with IT, engineering, operations, and external partners is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in relevant field.
• 3+ years supporting or administering MES or similar manufacturing systems.
• 5+ years supporting application and database systems in manufacturing/IT environments.
• Experience across full system lifecycle: requirements, design, testing, deployment, training, production support.
• Experience with manufacturing execution, production tracking, process control, or similar platforms.
• Basic programming with C#, Python, ASP.NET, or XML.
• Database experience with SQL Server, SQL, stored procedures, and ETL/data integration tools.
• Strong Windows OS and infrastructure knowledge.
• Basic networking knowledge.
• Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with SPC, DOE, and root-cause methodologies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day production support and enhancements for manufacturing applications and MES platforms.
• Serve as a technical resource for integrated manufacturing systems and applications.
• Troubleshoot system stability, production issues, application performance, and bottlenecks.
• Administer, configure, and support MES and manufacturing workflow platforms.
• Partner with manufacturing engineers to implement new processes and workflows in manufacturing systems.
• Support equipment integration, automated data collection, workflow management, and SPC systems.
• Perform data analysis and root-cause analysis to support improvements.
• Gather requirements and work with stakeholders to define and implement tech solutions.
• Evaluate solution alternatives based on cost, functionality, risk and timelines.
• Define project scope, resources, testing plans, and implementation activities.
• Design, develop, test, deploy and support client-server and web-based apps.
• Analyze existing systems and implement enhancements and new functionality.
• Maintain technical documentation and user guides.
• Support factory IT hardware and specialized manufacturing software.
• Coordinate installation and maintenance of factory PCs, tablets, printers, and other equipment.
• Act as point of contact for manufacturing hardware/software issues and coordinate with IT teams.
• Collaborate with factory leadership and operations to plan technology activities.
• Identify gaps and drive continuous improvement.
• Provide after-hours support as needed.
