Job summary

Canoo seeks a Digital Process MES Engineer to work with the Manufacturing Project team, documenting processes and ensuring MES is deployed on the shopfloor. The role will sustain the MES system post-implementation with hands-on programming and supplier coordination.

Annual manufacturing experience in the automotive sector is required, with a focus on MES configuration, data handling, and continuous improvement to minimize downtime and maximize equipment efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience in Automotive industry.
  • Experience with Automotive Manufacturing processes.
  • Awareness of IT and OT environments (between systems).
  • Proven database and MES configuration/implementation experience.
  • Process Engineering and OEE.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with execution.
  • Siemens PLC skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy the MES on the shopfloor and ensure successful implementation.
  • Collect requirements from the manufacturing project team.
  • Develop detailed designs and process definitions for MES, implement and test.
  • Improve processes in line with Canoo growth strategy.
  • Coordinate between MES supplier and internal project team.
  • Oversee integration with ERP, PLM, and automation systems.
  • Document system faults and troubleshooting activities.
  • Build long-term relationships with shop managers and team leaders.
  • Provide operational training to production teams.
  • Serve as MES first line fix in the plant.
  • Plan for long-term expansion and future capability.
  • Maintain Canoo standards, IP, Quality and H&S.

Job Purpose

Digital Process MES Engineer will work closely with the Manufacturing Project team to assure all Manufacturing Processes have been documented and can be implemented in Canoo MES system. This position will also be involved with sustaining and maintaining the MES system after implementation. This is a hands‑on role hence programming experience is essential. The successful candidate will work closely with the MES system integrator during implementation and will be held accountable for supplier management for the allocated area (Body Shop, Paint Shop or General Assembly). Automotive manufacturing MES experience is crucial for this role. On launch of the new facility the position holder will be responsible to address and rectify any matters that require attention prior the final production, assuring minimum machinery downtime and high equipment efficiency. Future continuous improvement projects will be essential to sustain the world class excellence.

Responsibilities (80s of the Position)

  • Assure successful deployment of the MES on the shopfloor
  • Collect requirements and must haves from the manufacturing project team
  • Develop detailed designs and Process definitions, implement, troubleshoot, and test MES solution
  • Develop and improve processes in accordance with Canoo staged growth strategy
  • Liaise between MES solution supplier and internal project team
  • Oversee integration with 3rd party systems (Automation, ERP and PLM)
  • Document system faults and troubleshooting activities
  • Develop long term relationship with shop managers and team leaders
  • Provide operational training to the production teams
  • Be the MES first line fix in the plant
  • Assure long term planning and solution future expansion potential
  • Maintain company’s standards, IP, Quality and H&S

Required Experience

  • BEng in Digital technology or IT or similar
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience gained in the Automotive industry
  • Experienced in Automotive Manufacturing processes
  • Awareness of the IT and OT environments as this role will be located between both systems
  • Proven data base and MES configuration/implementation experience
  • Process Engineering and OEE
  • Continuous improvement – leading by example, getting things done attitude
  • Siemens PLC skills a plus

  • Travel to support the business as required.
