Senior Electronics Engineer

Job Purpose
Senior Electronics Engineer is responsible for leading the development and sourcing of in‑house control units and ensuring the products satisfy all requirements. The successful candidate will be multi‑talented and hands‑on, supporting all functions of engineering.
Responsibilities
- Capture system requirements from all stakeholders and translate into a technical specification. Technical specification shall guide and glue together HW and SW requirements maintaining linkages to the system requirements.
- Responsible for component selection and schematic capture
- Responsible for the architecture of the Electronic Control Unit, ensuring it meets all functional and environmental requirements for a rugged automotive environment.
- Create the documentation to support technical robustness of design (Signal Integrity, Power Budget, Worst Case Analysis, Circuit Simulations, DFMEA, Functional Safety Analysis)
- Work with PCB Designer and Mechanical Engineer to verify library components and guide and approve layouts
- Responsible for the development and execution of all engineering and validation test plans and reports with an emphasis on board bring up and detailed characterization under accelerated operating conditions.
- Work with all engineering disciplines to ensure the final product meets all technical and commercial requirements.
- Work with commercial teams (Programs, Supply Chain) to ensure cost targets and schedules are met. Be the main technical point of contact between suppliers and all engineering disciplines.
- Work with test and validation team to verify functional operation to technical specification
- Work with all stakeholders to integrate final design in vehicle or subsystem
- Assist in the development of detailed DVP&R plans, including statistical confidence intervals
- Ensure all product issues are identified, logged, tracked, and resolved during each testing phase
- Good communication with the rest of the organization when issues/failures arise
Required Experience
- Minimum bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited university with a major in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or another related STEM field.
- MSEE or advanced degree in STEM is preferred.
- Must be highly analytical with excellent documentation and traceability skills
- Experience with mixed‑signal embedded controller design
- Experience with high‑speed design and signal integrity
- Technical understanding and familiarity with automotive industry standards that covers environmental, mechanical, electrical aspects of validation
- Familiarity with CAN, LIN, Ethernet communications and the tools used to interface with them
- Familiarity with board design and manufacturing processes. Consider design for manufacturing during all stages of the development process
- Hands‑On experience working with electronic/electric systems and all traditional lab equipment (DMM, Oscilloscope, VNA, Logic Analyzers, Power Supplies)
- Excellent aptitude in circuit theory and general electronics design practice (communication networks, SMPS, Analog and Digital design)
- Experience in designing for EMC best practice and validation test.
- Experienced in troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- 5+ years designing automotive electronics
Preferred Experience
- Experience with automotive electronics development standards such as ISO 16750 series
- Experience with automotive controllers used in safety critical systems. Demonstrated experience with ISO 26262 is preferred.
- Experience with Altium Designer preferred
