Job summary

Complex is seeking a proactive Product Development Assistant to support the end-to-end creation of artist and brand merchandise across multiple product categories. You will collaborate with Creative, Technical Design, Production, and external partners to move concepts from mockups to production-ready specifications and to manage samples and timelines.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in product development, production, sourcing, merchandising, or related field.
• Working knowledge of apparel manufacturing, garment construction, and product development processes.
• Familiarity with apparel decoration techniques, dyes, washes, and specialty production methods.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly to vendor, factory, and production partner locations.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of merchandise from concept through production, ensuring feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Review concepts and mockups to advise on materials, decoration methods, and manufacturing approaches.
• Collaborate with Creative and Technical Design to translate ideas into production-ready specs.
• Identify production challenges early and propose practical solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors, manufacturers, print shops, and embroidery facilities.
• Travel to vendor facilities to review samples and monitor production quality.
• Coordinate and track product samples through development and approvals.
• Maintain development calendars, milestones, and deadlines; ensure proper documentation.
