Job summary

Mercantile Hall is seeking a Barback to support bartenders during weddings and events. You will restock supplies, maintain bar cleanliness, and help ensure seamless bar operations behind the scenes to create a smooth, enjoyable experience for guests.

Responsibilities include setting up and breaking down the bar, maintaining organization and stock, and learning drink preparation under guidance. Friday–Sunday shifts from 2:00pm to 8:00pm, compensation $17 per hour.

• Set up and break down bar with liquor, plasticware, etc. according to event specifications.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stocking of the bar during the shift.
• Work with the bartender to learn how to serve beverages in a responsible manner according to Wisconsin state liquor laws and Mercantile Hall rules.
• Interact with guests in a friendly, professional manner and, by working alongside the bartender fulfill drink requests accordingly.
• In some cases, receive payment from guests and process/make change accordingly.
• Learn the art of making drinks with the bartender, including measuring, recipes, and serving tips.

Support bartenders by restocking supplies, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring seamless bar operations during weddings and events. Your behind-the-scenes efficiency helps create a smooth, enjoyable experience for guests celebrating at our venue.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Set up and break down bar with liquor, plasticware, etc. according to event specifications.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stocking of the bar during the shift.
• Work with the bartender to learn how to serve beverages in a responsible manner according to Wisconsin state liquor laws and rules set in place by Mercantile Hall.
• Interact with guests in a friendly, professional manner and, by working alongside the bartender fulfill drink requests accordingly.
• In some cases, receive payment from guests and process/make change accordingly.
• Learn the art of making drinks from the bartender including the importance of proper measuring, ingredients, how to find a recipe if you do not recognize the drink ingredients by name, how to properly serve the drink to the guests, and answer questions about the venue including steps for tipping with Venmo.
