Job summary

USMEPCOM in New Orleans is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to perform applicant medical examinations at MEPS, conduct prescreening, take full medical histories, and document findings.

You will maintain confidentiality, ensure professionalism, and work with the Chief Medical Officer and medical staff; a background investigation and security clearance are required. The role involves using MHS GENESIS and other software to document assessments and support enlistment processing.

Qualifications

• Graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Active, current registered nurse license in the United States.
• BLS certification sponsored or endorsed by AHA may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform applicant physical examinations at MEPS following agency standards.
• Prescreen applicants and document medical findings per policy.
• Obtain complete medical histories face-to-face after prescreening.
• Complete all medical documentation in line with MHS GENESIS and related policies.
• Verify health conditions and advise physicians for further exams.
• Prepare electronic and non-electronic reports to assess fitness for service.
• Assess status of previously qualified applicants for enlistment readiness.
• Provide professional direct health care within general medicine.
